Falling For Jeans

If there is one staple in a mom’s wardrobe, it’s blue jeans. We wear them to the grocery store, to the playgroup, to church…Heck, I’ve even fallen asleep in them! So it should do your maternal heart good to find out that the typical pair of blue jeans has had a facelift for fall. Check out the new styles, and sport a pair this season.

Wow! It’s a Waist!
Can you believe it? The waistlines have actually risen to the…well, the waist. Jeans have finally stepped back from the ultra-low rises that show some ultra-nasty butt cracks! And thank goodness for that! But here’s the trick to wearing high-waisted jeans. Don’t ride the fence. Don’t throw on those throw-back mom jeans and declare that you are fashionable because you have high-waisted jeans. Nope, you still have mom jeans. Pick up a pair that soars and wear ‘em like you mean it. Put on a fitted sweater, a flowing scarf, and some peep-toe shoes, and you have transformed yourself into one hot mama.

Get the Skinny
I know, I know, you were hoping they were going away, but skinny jeans are still just as hot as ever. It seems the fashion powers that be have no mercy for us moms who have the less-than-skinny thighs! But fear not, all sizes can wear skinny jeans, as long as you wear them right. If you have a slim build, then go ahead and pair them with a fitted top and maybe a cute cap and stylish tennies. If you have a fuller figure, then skinny jeans can still work for you if you pair it with a flowing top, such as a long empire waist. You can also make this work for a fuller blouse by belting it over your jeans. Just make sure your belt is nice and wide and has some serious style attached.

Color Me Happy
Yes, it’s true. Jeans are cropping up in all the colors of the rainbow. I love it! Our beautiful legs have been clad in the dull, boring blue long enough. It’s time for a party! The problem with the party, however, lies in the ticket price. Colored jeans are so new on the scene that only the more expensive brands are carrying them. However, check out some of the major department store like Macy’s and Dillard’s for some cost-effective solutions, and get one in every color of the rainbow. Remember, though, that you don’t have to match your jeans to the rest of your outfit (that’s an immediate yellow card, on account of boring soccer mom-ness). Go ahead and pair that red Henley with those purple jeans and accessorize with lots of silver. That’s right, mom, jeans have had an extreme makeover and we all get to enjoy the benefits!
