Boot-Scootin’ Boogie
Unless you have been hiding in the dark
lately (which, because we're hard-working moms, is quite
possible), you
probably already know that boots are big! Well, in fashion circles,
boots
are always big, but they take on a new face with each season. In
the fall, it’s sex-kitten knee high gleaming black stilettos.
Then winter comes, and we trudge around in Uggs (thank goodness
that is a memory). But spring is here, and it has brought with
it the beauty of cowboy boots. So, saddle up pardner! It’s
rodeo time!
Some Do’s:
• Do wear cowboy boots with blue jeans. You just can’t
beat a classic like that. And if you throw in a white t-shirt,
then
you may as well sing a chorus of “Born in the USA.”
• Do wear cowboy boots with skirts and dresses. Sundresses are big
with boots this season, especially the flouncy ones that scream, “Little
House on the Prairie.” And skirts are big, full, and the
waist actually hits at the waist!
• Do wear cowboy boots with mini-skirts. But remember that a mini
for a mom is a bit different from a mini for a sixteen-year-old.
Don’t embarrass your kids by flashing your underwear.
• Do wear cowboy boots with a fitted canvas jacket. This look is
polished and casual all at the same time. Add some flashy or some
bulky (not both) jewelry, and you have a look that says, “Step
aside. I have places to go.”
Some Don’t’s:
• Don’t wear cowboy boots with a cowboy hat, unless of course
you are planning on going to a rodeo or you’re headed out
to Dallas. This is not fashion. This is overkill.
• Don’t wear cowboy boots with socks. I really don’t
need to say that much here, do I? Except, “Yikes!”
• Don’t wear cowboy boots with hose. This is almost as scary.
If you are worried about flashing winter white skin, then just
rub some bronzer or instant tanner over those legs of yours.
• Don’t wear cowboy boots with formal pants or dresses. This
is kind of like baking soda and vinegar. If you wear a combination
like this, you are sure to send someone spewing.
