Homemade Beauty Solutions

Forget about forking over a bundle just to look good. With just a few simple (and inexpensive) items that you already have in your kitchen, you can make your own beauty recipes and give yourself a spa treatment. You deserve it!

Hands: They do all the dirty work and never get a bit of respect. It’s time to treat your hands for a change; and you can do it every day with just a few easy steps.

Step One: Keep these four items on your kitchen counter at all times:

    1. A squirt dispenser of liquid hand soap.
    2. A squirt dispenser of hand lotion.
    3. A bottle of olive oil.
    4. A syrup dispenser filled with grits (yes, grits).

Step Two: Squirt some hand soap in your hand.

Step Three: Drizzle some olive oil on top of the soap.

Step Four: Sprinkle some grits on top of the soap and oil.

Step Five: Combine these ingredients by rubbing them on your hands and massaging thoroughly for about a minute or so.

Step Six: Rinse with warm water.

Step Seven: Rub in some hand lotion and enjoy the softest, smoothest hands you’ve ever had.

Face: Every complexion can benefit from a facial mask once a week. Try one of these recipes;

Oily Skin—Egg white, teaspoon of honey.
Dry Skin—Egg yolk, teaspoon of honey, 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil.
Mature Skin---plain yogurt.

Find the mask for your face, rub in on, allow it to sit for at least five minutes, and rinse it with warm water.

Toner—Nothing beats good, old-fashioned apple cider vinegar as a facial toner. This stuff works like magic! Make sure you get the organic kind.

Facial 9-1-1—Every once in a while, we need some extra help with our complexion. Forget about expensive acid peels and dermabrasion. Instead, try this homespun beauty technique. Slice up some fresh pineapple and smear a piece of it all over your face. Now snack on some while you let those natural enzymes work their magic on your complexion. After you feel your skin beginning to tingle (usually 2-3 minutes), sprinkle some corn meal and olive oil in your hands and massage it all over your face. Rinse with warm water and watch yourself glow!!
