Hannah's Hot Pick
Magellan Maestro

My husband has been pushing for a GPS for ages. I guess he was tired of me calling him every time I ventured out, asking him which exit I needed to take to get home or which direction I was supposed to be going on the highway (yes, it's that bad). When God was passing out the internal sense of direction, I believe I had gotten lost somewhere and showed up too late to get one. I actually needed a map to get to the grocery store and back for the first month that we lived in our home! Ridiculous!

Finally, I got the chance to try out the Magellan Maestro. I simply typed in library and it gave me the three closest ones. I selected the one I wanted to go to and it started giving me turn-by-turn directions, just like that. Okay, so I already knew how to get to the library. But, c'mon, do you really think I would take a virgin voyage with a contraption that I had never tried out? However, Magellan sprang a new twist on matters and took me a different direction. Should I trust it? I dare say, I did! I stepped out of my comfort zone, jumped into an adventure, and took all seven kids on a new route to the library (that's about as exciting as adventure gets around here). It was funny to watch the kids get nervous. They know me far too well. They began squirming in their seats, muttering things like, "She's lost again" and "I really don't think this is the way to the library."

But, surprise! The nice little voice inside the Magellan Maestro told me to take a left turn. I did, and lo and behold, there sat the library. It worked! No desperate calls to my husband, no fooling around with makeshift printouts off the computer, just a voice guiding me along and a little screen revealing to me my place in this vast world. Thanks, Magellan, I'm a believer. Lead on!
